I’ve written before about Serendipity, which is my favorite neighborhood wine shop both because the owners are the nicest people in the world and because they offer frequent (and fantastic) free wine tastings (often with cheese pairings).
The other night I stopped in to pick up a bottle of Vinho Verde, and was coerced (it was tough) into trying Labrusca’s lightly sparkling Rosso Secco ($16.95; there’s also a Bianco). A sparkling red…sort of weird, right? But it’s only a few more weeks before I start making my annual transition away from whites (I’m one of those white-in-summer/red-in-winter types), and I think this fruity, light wine will be just the ticket as the leaves start to turn. (FYI, it’s low-alcohol, so feel free to drink in copious quantities; it pairs well with pasta.)
