Reader Question / Easy Christmas Desserts

Q. I work at a school and want to bring in some Christmas Desserts (cookies, cake pops, fudge, etc) for everyone but there’s about 80 people! Any good suggestions? I guess I could narrow it down.. but i don’t want to be rude and not include anyone ya know?  I wanted to do small plates of goodies and put that in their box… do you have a better or another idea??

Then my mom suggested I just bring some platters and put them on the table in the copy/break room… but that just doesn’t seem as cute!…

Much appreciated!

A. Hey Amber!

Some ideas for you:

1. Sugared Cranberries or Oreo Truffles (pictured at left): both of these recipes are universally adored, gorgeous-looking, inexpensive, and easy to make in vast quantities.

2. Individualized DIY S’mores Kits (similar to the ones pictured here, but you can make them smaller since you need so many): just wrap up a square of chocolate, a marshmallow, and two graham crackers in some pretty cellophane (maybe with a little tag telling the recipient how to make s’mores in the microwave).

3. Lilly’s Sugar Cookies (the recipe can be found in the Community) are so pretty that I think one per person would be just fine.

4. Marshmallow Snowmen: just glue together three marshmallows with frosting, use frosting to affix chocolate chips or raisins for eyes, add a little piece of orange candy (or a tiny sliver of carrot) for the nose, and wrap a piece of fruit roll-up around the neck for a scarf. Affix mini peppermint pieces down the front for buttons, and use toothpicks for the arms.

5. Try Betty Crocker’s Holiday Tree Brownies: so pretty…and easy.

6. Rice Krispies bars are simple and inexpensive, and you can make them more seasonal by either coloring them with food coloring/using colored marshmallows (a little kitschy, but fun), or by drizzling a little frosting over the top. If you do the latter, maybe sprinkle over a little edible glitter (which you can find in fancy food stores like Sur La Table or online) to make them extra-festive.

Anyone else have an idea for Amber??
