Presenting: the perfect antidote for the End-of-Summer Blues.
I cobbled together this recipe based more or less on whatever I had in my refrigerator already (I ran out to the store for guava juice and strawberries, because I think it’s inexcusable not to include those two ingredients in summer sangrias), and it is perfection in a glass (or, in this case, Mason jar).
OH, DOCTOR GUAVA SANGRIA
What you need:
1 bottle relatively cheap, preferably vaguely sparkly white wine (I use Vinho Verde, about $6.99 and even cheaper at Trader Joe’s)
3/4 cup guava juice
3/4 cup orange juice
1 lemon, thinly sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced
1 tsp lemon zest
1/2 tsp lime zest
A handful of sliced strawberries
1/4 cup club soda (optional)
What you do:
1. In a large pitcher, combine first seven ingredients and let sit overnight in refrigerator.
2. Just before serving, add strawberries and a splash of club soda (if desired) to each serving. Garnish with a lemon wheel or halved strawberry.
