One of my favorite spring trends: a focus on all things ladylike and romantic (think sorbet shades, lace details, and pretty florals). A fun – and slightly less saccharine – way to interpret the feminine look: go for a mod silhouette, with a colorblock shift dress, sweet Mary Janes, and one killer black-and-white swing coat.
For a few years now, I’ve had a thing for black-and-white spring coats; I picked one up for $30 way back in 2009, and then it fell apart and I bought a new one in 2010…but it was a thrift-store find, and ended up being less “adorably swingy” and more “five or six sizes too big.” It’s presently sitting in a box in my basement marked “YARD SALE.” (Oh my god, I cannot wait until it warms up and I can have my first for-real yard sale in my for-real yard. What can I say? It’s a fantasy of mine.)
Back to the spring outerwear, because I had been on the hunt for a new black-and-white coat with 3/4 sleeves…and presto: on Tuesday’s trip to Ann Taylor, I found it. This jacket isn’t just black-and-white; it’s black and white leopard print.
I mean, are you kidding me?
It’s like a custom delivery from my own personal Jacket Fairy.
It makes me so happy that I have to run through parking lots.
On me: Ann Taylor Mod Colorblocked Shirtdress and Leopard Jacquard Topper, Hanes Silk Reflections fishnets, Mesh Bracelet Watch c/o Timex, Mini Teardrop Earrings in Lapis c/o IPPOLITA.
