DIY Christmas Cards For Kids

Well, this is an adorable little project.

The problem with crafting generally – and Pinterest crafting, specifically – is that normal people don’t have cabinets full of stuff that they can use to effortlessly whip up DIY-ed whatevers. And adding a run to Michael’s to a craft transforms it from “fun and affordable alternative to store-bought” to “abject misery.”

Anyway, I’m all about the crafts that you don’t need to leave your house in order to do. In other words, the actually cheap and actually easy ones that just use stuff you’ve already got lying around.

You know what I happen to have lying around? About ten million tiny plastic dinosaurs.

So for my son’s teachers, a merry rex-mas it is.

What You Need:

Construction paper, Kid-friendly scissors, Puffy paint, Colored pens, A gold pen, Twine or ribbon, Krazy glue or rubber cement

What You Do:

1. First, pick the spot for your dinosaur, then construct your lovely artwork around it with the colored pens and the gold pen. (The kids can do this.)

2. Write the message, and then use puffy paint to trace over the writing.

3. Affix twine to the cards to turn them into “ornaments,” if you want.

4. Glue on the dinosaur (you do this part) and let him dry for a bit.

Awww.
