I’m not really a crafter.
I churn out the occasional DIY project, but when presented with a kit of dyes and sparkles and sponges? I’m sort of at a loss.
But! Crafting is fun, obviously. And two-and-a-half year olds enjoy things like creating disasters with paints and markers, obviously. So: an afternoon of crafting it is.
What I decided to make with the kit sent over by P.S. I Made This and Old Navy: a Big Brother tee for my guy to wear to the hospital to meet his new baby sister.
Here’s the before (it’s this tee).
What I Did:
- Despite my son’s protestations that he “does not like stencils,” I pasted letter stencils onto the t-shirt, and then used a sponge to apply fabric spray paint (I thought the spraying would end up being too messy).
- Next, I used puffy fabric paint to outline the borders of the letters, and then added a couple of dots here and there for pizzazz purposes.
- Last step: picking up the shirt to show Kendrick the results before it was dry, and destroying it a little. Obviously. (Nothing a few Q-tips can’t fix.)
That’s it! I love it.
(It’s coming with us to Cali.)
