Not too terrible of a location for a runway show.
OK, so Cotton’s 24-Hour Runway Show (you can see the highlights here) was SUPER cool. I’m not sure if you realized this, but the 24-hour thing wasn’t an exaggeration: the event went from 8PM Friday to 8PM Saturday, and there were literally models walking the runway at 3AM. I mean…I can’t testify to that myself, because I was basically comatose (all alone in a very large hotel bed, yesssss), but it was live-streaming the whole time, and even ended up setting a Guinness World Record for longest runway show.
The show featured (cotton, obviously) styles from a huge number of designers and retailers (a look from one of my favorite presentations, Kiki Lynn, is pictured above). To see a full list and get promo codes for retailers including Wildfox, 7 For All Mankind, and ModCloth, click here.
My favorite part of the event: those women pictured above are students from all over the country whose designs were selected from the Cotton University program to be shown live on the runway.
One of them asked me what my advice would be for a young woman who’s looking to go into the fashion industry, and I told her that my advice is the same for someone who’s just getting started in any industry: whatever your passion is, don’t just sit around talking about your plans…make them happen. Just do it, whatever “it” is. But I don’t think the women pictured here especially need my advice…because “making it happen” is exactly what they’re already doing.
