Les Culottes

So I bought these pants.

Here they are photographed in Milan by The Sartorialist, worn in a manner that is kind of amazing but makes absolutely no sense in my life. Also I don't own chocolate-colored smocks or Valentino pumps, or stand on the street dramatically texting while people photograph me. (Or I don't often, at least.)

Five Easy New Mom Beauty Tips

new mom beauty

With a newborn and a toddler at home, I don't really have time to think about things like…my face. That's OK; these beauty fixes are so fast and easy they even leave me with time for more important things, like drinking all of the coffee in the world.

My Looks

Crossover

A few months ago I was at Nordstrom Rack with my friend Katie, and I picked up a loose grey sweater and was all "ooooo," and she looked at me like I was insane.

"Jordan," she said. "You own that. I think you own ten of that."

Everybody gets stuck in a clothing rut once in awhile. For me, it's the loose-sweater-skinny-pant thing; it's just sort of my Default Mode, the shape I know I feel good (and presumably look good-ish) in. And while having a fallback look can make getting ready in the morning about a thousand times easier (remember my Happy Place Silhouette theory?), it's also fun to try something…you know...

The Unforgettables

I remember the very first time that the concept of “skincare” occurred to me. It was in May of 1994, and my boyfriend Jason (or rather his mother) put together a birthday present for me comprised of the first three beauty products I ever owned.

A Black Honey Almost Lipstick (a color that I still wear to this day)…

A Dramatically Different Moisturizer

And a face bar.

Try This Weekend: A Twiggy-Ish Twist On The Cat-Eye

Just a little idea for your next night out: this odd little alternative to the traditional cat eye.

It's a super-simple twist on standard winged liner, with a little essence de Twiggy thrown in there (for those of you who are mere babes, Twiggy was a '60s model who famously drew her lower eyelashes on). What you do to create this effect: apply liquid eyeliner as you normally would, from inner to outer corner with a little flick pointed up towards your temple. Then add a second, slightly smaller flick from the corner of your eye out towards your ear, and then a third very small flick just below that, pointing down towards your jawline.
