My Looks

A Thing That I Wear And Also Don’t

I own two pairs of leather pants. Let me show you the first pair. I don't wear them.

Here they are (in a photo shoot I did last fall for Kipling; I don't typically stand in the middle of extremely busy and car-laden streets waving bags around) .

The reason I do not wear these pants is because they are blue, and there are like three places on the planet for which blue leather pants constitute appropriate attire. And none of them are in the suburbs.

This Is Today

You know when you are delicately toeing the line between feeling totally a-OK and maybe having the bubonic plague, and the difference between one state and the other, is, like, half an hour of sleep, or maybe a vitamin?

Well, when you are feeling that way, here is what I suggest that you not do: go out until one in the morning, drink really quite a lot of champagne, and then wake up with your children at…oh god, I don't even know when they're waking up these days. ALL THE TIME. All the time is when they're waking up.

How To Contour Your Cheeks

Look, I am not a Kim (or even a Kourtney). I like makeup, but I don't want to spend forever and twenty minutes doing it. And while I'm not a total disaster when it comes to doing my makeup, contouring always seemed like something best left to people far more talented than I. Like, presumably, Kim. And Kourtney.

As it turns out? It's really easy. And fast. And non-intimidating. (Promise.)

February Favorites

What I'm excited about this month: all things green and gold, simple silhouettes, a little hint of romance, and a few pieces that are getting me all atwitter about the warm weather that's (theoretically) on its way.

1. Wayfair Moroccan Tea Glasses ($38.99). I have a set of vintage gold-edged Moroccan tea glasses that my aunt found for me at a flea market in Canada and that I use for everything: wine, water, lemonade, to serve snacks, as little mini-vases for centerpieces…everything. And I recently broke one, and was extremely sad about it. This set would make a lovely replacement (isn't that shade of green so gorgeous??).

2. YLighting Rocket dWelLED Pendant Light ($198). Pendant lights run the gamut from crazy-ornate to utilitarian and minimalist, but I especially love the aesthetic of this one: it's got a super-straightforward shape…but it's gold. Best of both worlds.

3. Kelly Wearstler Saint's Hand Sculpture ($225). I'm into all things Kelly Wearstler at the moment (especially this ring, ooooh), and also have a minor obsession with hand sculptures (which can be used to display jewelry, or just set out wherever because they're so freaking cool looking). This one is so striking, so simple, so beautiful.
