You know what we did for Valentine's Day? We dressed up just for ourselves - I wore the leather pants that I accidentally bought at rag & bone while waiting for an Uber (thereby making that Uber ride the most expensive Uber ride that anyone has ever taken), and Francesca put on the red and pink gloriousness you see here - and we ate sushi, drank rose and tequila, and watched Versace.
When I was in New York a couple of weeks ago I discovered my old black-and-white Ann Taylor swing coat sitting in my bedroom closet, and decided I wanted to wear to that day's meetings. But it was 30 degrees outside and the jacket had elbow-length sleeves, so I decided that I should probably wear it with long leather gloves so as to prevent my wrists from falling off. But then I realized that neither my mother nor I own a pair of long leather gloves.
I somehow lost my absolute favorite blouse on the planet. You probably know which one I'm talking about; It's a (now discontinued) NYDJ style that I've worn in about 9,000 posts since it first came to live with me in 2012.

Remember how I said I take a bath every single night of my life? That was true, until very, very recently: I haven't been able to take a bath since my operation last Tuesday, and won't be able to take one for another week. Maybe two. Lots of aspects of my current medical situation are less-than-fun, but taking away my nightly bubbles/late night TV/wine routine feels like adding insult to injury.
But instead of dwelling on the fact that there is a clawfoot bathtub ten feet away from me that I'm not allowed to use, let's dwell on bathrooms more generally - because all the bathroom-obsessing I've been doing over the past few months has left me with a bunch of easy ideas for those of you whose bathroom could use a little extra atmosphere.

Francesca had to force me to buy this outfit. Not the sweater - that I was obviously going home with, especially since it was $29.99 on sale, and can, if you go by the photograph on Zara's site, be worn without pants (weeeee); it was the jeans that I was eh about.
