How-To: Easy Travel Hair

Q. Hey Jordan!

I am traveling to Europe and I’d like to leave the hairdryer, curling iron, and straightener at home. In an ideal world I’d hop out of the shower and 2 hours of air drying later I’d have some sexy tousled waves. Unfortunately I’ve been blessed with not quite straight, not quite curly (but always frizzy) medium-long hair.

Do you have any tips/tricks/or products you’d be willing to share for those of us looking for (super) low maintenance (but still cute) style?

Thanks!

Lust & Less: Silver Pumps

Oh mah goodness, do I ever love those Jimmy Choo Anouk pumps. So does everyone else, apparently, because they're completely sold out everywhere on the planet (at least in the silver color, although I wouldn't throw the black or red ones out of bed, either). They are every single thing that I love in footwear right now: a pointy closed-toe pump with a slender heel in a metallic color.

They're also way, way too expensive. And, sure, last week I tried to convince myself that it's occasionally (like once-in-a-decade occasionally) OK to spend that kind of money on a shoe...but...I can't do it. It goes back to college, you see: for my birthday senior year, my boyfriend bought me a pair of strappy gold Manolos (I know, but trust me, this was an unusual occurrence), and I was obviously incredibly excited, so I wore them out on graduation night...

and it poured.

And I got caught in the rain, and they were more or less ruined. And that was so miserable that I'm not eager to repeat the experience ever again; I prefer my shoes nice and replaceable, thanks.

Must-Try Product: Pevonia Peeling Cream

Every once in awhile I come across a new product that's truly phenomenal, and that immediately goes into heavy rotation. I've been using Pevonia Botanica's Enzymo-Spherides Peeling Cream ($43.50) twice a week for about a year now, and let me tell you: phenomenal.

It's basically just a deep exfoliating cream, but every single time I use it I see and feel an immediate difference in the texture of my skin. You apply it with wet fingers (avoiding the eye area), leave it on for two minutes (fast!) and rinse it off, and the pineapple and papaya-infused cream eliminates impurities, blackheads, and toxins, leaving your skin looking bright and feeling nice and smooth. Big, enthusiastic recommendation.

How To: Wear A Pink Leather Jacket

It's always a good day when you discover that your jacket matches your fake deer head.

But I'm not gonna lie: pink jackets always give me pause. I mean, I don't really want to look like a Pink Lady...but then, of course, I also sort of do (more in a Rizzo way than a pre-makeover Sandy way). For yesterday's shoot and meetings in the city, I decided to skip my usual skinny jeans in favor of  a simple black dress that I bought for our upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic but couldn't wait to wear, and graphic black-and-white accessories to keep the whole thing from going too girly.

Here's a more casual way to try out the look:
