Test-Run: Orlane Anti-Fatigue Absolute Radiance Cream

I've written about Orlane's Anti-Fatigue Absolute Radiance Cream before (here), but it deserves another mention because I just can't get over how much I like it, and I've been surprised how seamlessly it made the jump from winter to spring (usually my winter must-haves start feeling too heavy once it warms up a bit).

I use mostly drugstore products in my day-to-day life, but I still try to test out different formulas whenever I can so that I'm relatively well-informed about what's on the market...and this is one of a handful of products that I keep coming back to over and over, whenever my skin feels like it needs some extra TLC. I think it's intended for use as a night cream (it's super-rich), but I also like to apply it in the daytime under my regular SPF-containing moisturizer an average of once a week, just to give my skin an extra boost when I feel like it needs it.

It's delicious. I like it so much I'm all weird and hoarder-y about it, and try to spread out my usage so that it'll last forever.

Highly recommended.

Personalized Skincare Suggestions From Simple

I've been incorporating Simple Skincare products into my daily skincare routine for almost a year now, and have seen some pretty fantastic results. I rarely break out the way I used to, and my skin just feels generally calmer and more stable. But I still have skin issues - persistent dryness (that eases up a little in the summer, but is still there all year round), undereye puffiness, and fine lines (especially around my eyes).

And it's spring, and spring is all about starting fresh, so I took a minute to revisit my skincare routine and see if I'm using the right products for my specific issues, and what (if anything) needs to be added or taken away.

Simple recently developed Simple Sense, an interactive skincare tool that considers each person's individual skin triggers, lifestyle, diet and well-being in order to create a detailed skincare routine. I took it yesterday, and was blown away by how extensive and personalized the advice was. And it's so nice! Seriously, when it gets to areas that you could maybe improve a little on, it basically gives you a hug and says "That's OK, we all struggle with this stuff sometimes." Lovely all around.

Gorgeous Polish, Great Cause

Presenting: Ann Taylor's beautiful new polish palette, created to support the fight against breast cancer.

Although I think you can't lose with that pale shade on the left, my personal favorite is Ribbon Pink (in the center).

It's what I chose for this week's beachy travels; I felt like it was summery but still classic (you can see Kendrick photobombing his approval in the background).

Fix In A Flash: Ombre-Ish Nails

Did you know that it's actually, literally impossible for me to sit still for long enough to allow a manicure to dry properly before getting myself involved in one kind of activity or another that completely destroys it?

I know, you're shocked; go ahead and sit down for a moment if you need to.

Anyway, I've discovered a fantastic little solution for those times when you screw up one or two nails badly enough that you really should just take it all off and start over, but - oops - you don't happen to own the same exact color they used on you at the salon.

At the DKNY shoot last Friday, one of my colleagues had the most beautiful ombre-ish manicure, with the nail on her index finger painted just slightly darker than all the others; a subtler, more elegant version of that ring-finger nail art trend that's been circling around forever and ever now. And so on Saturday, when I decided to splurge on a beautiful pale-grey manicure only to arrive home, tickle my child, and immediately divest my fingernail of every single iota of its former prettiness, I just looked in my drawer, found a slightly darker shade in the same general color family, painted the index finger on both hands, and presto:
