Did you know that there’s a three-acre corn maze in Queens? I didn’t, but now I just might have to check it out. Time Out NY recommends that adults head over after dark (when the Park Slope kids have gone to sleep) to explore the maze with flashlights.

The Queens County Farm Museum (home of the maize maze) also offers hayrides, pick-your-own-pumpkin, and a kid-friendly haunted house.

Thursday evening Kendrick and I checked out Nightmare: Vampires, a haunted house down on Houston Street. I’m one of those people who loves going to horror movies, but then keeps their eyes shut the entire time (“tell me when it’s over!”), and I basically did the same thing at the haunted house: buried my face in Kendrick’s jacket and prayed for it to be over soon. But I had a blast. I definitely don’t recommend it for people who are seriously claustrophobic or prone to seizures (there are lots of strobe lights), but it’s a great way to get into the Halloween state of mind.

Tickets generously comped by management.

Another favorite.

I’m falling in this one, in case you can’t tell (heels + grass + wedding jitters = even less coordinated than usual me).
