Love this tip from this month's issue of Real Simple:
If you're out of steel wool but have a pan with all sorts of terrible things stuck to it, fill it with water and add 1/4 cup baking soda.
Simmer until almost no liquid is left - a chalky film should coat the bottom and sides.
Wipe the skillet clean with a sponge (above), and then wash with soap and hot water.
I just love the Costume Institute red carpet. This year, I loved it maybe a little less (what's with all the weirdly safe choices and underdressing?) but still. STILL.
