Cisco ūmi Mother’s Day Giveaway
Last week, in my run-down of fabulous Mother's Day gifts, I mentioned the Cisco ūmi, a system that allows you to video chat with your family and friends via your HD television. Basically, it turns your TV into an enormous video phone, and lets you feel like your loved ones are sitting right there with you - you can chat in real time while seeing every tiny detail and facial expression. It just sounds incredible - we video-chat with Kendrick's family, but there are delays and weird angles involved, and everyone has to crowd around tiny computer screens...which can be tough to do when young children and multiple family members are involved. The ūmi solves those issues, and also allows you to record video messages, pan around the room (and zoom in), and share your videos on Facebook and YouTube, and via email.
In celebration of Mother's Day, Cisco ūmi is giving away two sets and a year of free service (retail value: approximately $1,200) to one Ramshackle Glam reader. I am so, so excited about this giveaway - I can imagine how extraordinary it would be to share our baby's early months with faraway family members in such a personal, relaxed way, and can't wait to hear how the lucky winner likes the service.
To enter to win two Cisco ūmi sets plus a free year of service for both you and the recipient of the second set, just comment below telling me who you'd most look forward to chatting with.
Lots of love to all the moms out there -

Discovery: Cold Spring Apothecary
This pretty little shop, which Kendrick and I stumbled upon yesterday on our day trip to Cold Spring, smells exactly how I want my apartment to smell at all times. It's filled with burlap sacks packed with buckwheat and lavender, house-made essential oils, gorgeous linen waters (which, sure, you can DIY, but I couldn't help but buy one for our bedside table), and racks and racks of bath products packaged in tea-colored glass bottles.
My favorite finds:
Woodland Rose Vanilla Oak Body Lotion ($22); Hudson Fragrance Oil ($30, a springy blend of citrus and vetiver; call the store to order); Woodland Rose Mimosa & Rosehip Oil Eye Creme ($40)
My Dog…
...is freaking out over the dog food sample that was just sent to us to try out for an upcoming post.
Freaking. Out.
(That's his "worried Lucy is coming to take some food away" face.)
