Autumn Activities In My ‘Hood

Q. Hi Jordan! I’ve been wanting to explore Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown for awhile now – do you have any recommendations or must-sees while we’re there?

Caitlin

A. You’re going to love this area at this time of year, I promise – and the best part is that it’s just a 40-minute train ride from Grand Central (you can grab a $5 taxi into town at the station…or just walk uphill for ten minutes or so and you’ll find Main Street), making it an easy day trip in addition to a very fun one.

Links & Love & Stuff

Remember my guide to buying your very first home? Reader Allegra wrote a guide for buying an apartment in Manhattan (totally its own beast).

My skin did not enjoy two cross-country flights in four days. These skin peel wipes have been helping to clear up the situation.

I now own leather shorts. I'm pretty excited about this. (Shooting them this weekend.)

J. Crew Baby: As Adorable As You’d Imagine

I spent yesterday morning at the launch of the J.Crew Baby collection, and yes: it is absolutely as adorable as you'd imagine.

A lot of it is of the luxe-gift persuasion (think cashmere sweaters with little fox-ears on the hood), but there are also lots of more practical (and equally cute) staples: sweet footed onesies and polka-dot hats, teeny-tiny moccasins, and a black-and-white striped dress with a tutu skirt that is such a cute blend of tiny fashionista and just plain tiny that I can't stand it. (It makes me extremely grateful that I do not have a little girl, because were that the case I would be out the price of one striped dress with a tutu skirt at this very minute.)

Kristin Cavallari’s NFL Collection for Junk Food

On the menu for Tuesday afternoon: Kristin Cavallari's NFL + Junk Food show over at Style360.

What I wore for my foray into the city: a couple of Favorite New Pieces (that LOFT vest and my I.N.C. faux-leather pants) and a coral Botkier bag (which I also toted along to a meeting earlier that day with designer Monica Botkier, pictured above). In retrospect, not the best choice for 80-degrees-and-humid...but it was cloudy and rainy when I left in the morning, and I was in such a rush that I just grabbed what I saw and ran for the train.
