Last night I was sans husband, so I decided to make my favorite favorite favorite meal: Steak 'n' Potatoes For One. I love this meal, and I love it my way: extremely salty, buttery and garlicky. I also want to eat it all, which is why I prefer to make it when no one else is around.

Oh, Doctor Guava Sangria
I cobbled together this recipe based more or less on whatever I had in my refrigerator already (I ran out to the store for guava juice and strawberries, because I think it's inexcusable not to include those two ingredients in summer sangrias), and it is perfection in a glass (or, in this case, Mason jar).
Century Eggs / Whoa
Pictured after the jump (because while this stuff doesn't bother me, I may be in the minority here) is something called a "Century Egg", which I've heard mentioned from time to time, particularly in reference to congee mix-ins (according to some, congee isn't complete without the addition of one of these).
Lemon Sorbet Cups w/ Angel Food Cake & Citrusy Raspberry Sauce
Last night's very pretty dessert: slices of store-bought angel food cake with homemade mini Lemon Sorbet Cups and Citrusy Raspberry Sauce.
Congee For Dinner (And Breakfast, And Lunch…)
We may have gotten a bit over-excited and partaken enthusiastically of the Chang beer during the evening pictured at left. Fortunately, the very next morning we were introduced to the wonders of congee...more or less a hangover cure in a bowl.
