#roadtripping to Philly!
I’ve been to Philadelphia to meet with my publisher a few times over the past year or so, but it’s always a quick in-and-out trip; a stop into the office, a nearby lunch, and then back in the car for a mad rush back up the Garden State Parkway to get home in time for dinner. I did do the whole cobblestone streets/historical landmarks/mustard pretzels thing way back in the fifth grade, but my major takeaway from that particular visit is the fact that Francesco told me that he liked Sarah better than he liked me, so: time for a return trip.
On Sunday, we drove down to finally meet a friend who I’ve spent years corresponding with online in person (more on that later) and do Philadelphia right. Which mostly means cheesesteaks.
Goodness, do I ever love cheesesteaks.
We skipped Pat’s and Geno’s in favor of a bar where we could sit down and eat them with some craft beer on the side, but even so:
YES.
Other Philadelphia discoveries:
The Please Touch Museum is a three-year-old’s dreamland…
Amish donuts are one of the great wonders of the world (oh my goddd, these were good)…
And oh yes: I think our kids liked each other a little bit. (I’m fairly certain this is a head bonk, not a kiss, but still.)
