Want to hear a weird pet peeve of mine? Applying body lotion. The reason: have you seen my engagement ring? It’s a ’50s-era sort of latticework piece, and I can’t apply moisturizer without filling all those holes with a whole lot of mess. Take off the ring, you say? Not so easy nowadays, since my fingers have apparently swollen to twice their ordinary size in the summer heat. This is also why I avoid all non-spray suntan lotions; I don’t want to a) clog up my jewelry with gunk, or b) risk having some kind of weird reactive thing happen with the chemicals in the lotion and my much-adored rings (I don’t know – it could happen, right?). Oil sprays also make it easier to reach those hard-to-get-to spots like the center of your back (hey, just ’cause you don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t need TLC, too).
So let’s chat best body oils. My favorites:
– Votre Vu’s On Holiday Moisturizing Body Spray ($49.00; sample provided by manufacturer). According to the website we’re talking jojoba, apricot, and wheat germ, but to me it just smells clean and amazing.
– Avon Skin-So-Soft Original Bath Oil Spray ($10.24). Ah, memories…
– The Body Shop’s Olive Dry Oil Mist. Can be used wet or dry, absorbs immediately, and smells divine.
– Bobbi Brown Beach Body Oil ($28.00). Contains jojoba, avocado, and olive oils, and leaves skin with a pretty sheen.
– L’Occitane Almond Tonic Body Oil ($38.00). A super-popular product with geranium, grapefruit and red algae.
– Burt’s Bees Body & Bath Oil ($7.99). Alas, there’s no spritzer, so it doesn’t solve my application problem…but it’s nice for the bath, and smells lemon-y.
– Custom-scented Dry Oil Body Spray from Madcitysue (via Etsy). With sunflower oil and coconut oil, as well as optional fragrance.
Any others I should try?
