Juicy Couture Fall 2013 Presentation

With Gala at last night’s Juicy Couture Fall 2013 “Bad Reputation” presentation.

This Fashion Week, my plan is to pick a couple of days to spend in the city and attend whatever shows happen to fall on those days rather than trucking back and forth all week long…but I couldn’t miss this party. Champagne, chocolate-covered popcorn, Juicy Couture clothing, and a chance to catch up with friends I don’t get to see as much these days made for a pretty excellent evening.

The collection, inspired by icons such as Kate Moss, Joan Jett, Marianne Faithfull and the feminist Russian punk band Pussy Riot, features an eclectic mix of rocker-chick pieces like skin-tight coated denim (my favorite piece was the iridescent pair pictured above), plenty of animal print, preppy standards like tweed jackets and patterned blazers, and a couple of sweet 70′s-style flowery dresses.

(P.S. I own this woodsy/citrusy candle - it’s sitting on our dining room table right now - and it’s delicious.)

Versatile Workplace Attire with Anne Klein

Last night’s Anne Klein Bloomingdale’s event (with Anne Klein SVP Creative Director Jeff Mahshie and Consulting Fashion Director Amanda Ross) was all about the versatility of their classic Leo Legacy Dress (pictured on me above).

The piece (available in different colors and patterns depending on the season) is completely foolproof work attire: it’s easy-to-wear and comfortable (but nipped in at the waist with a skinny belt to give it shape), immensely packable (you can literally throw it in your bag for a business trip and pull it out once you arrive at your destination without a single wrinkle), and fun to dress up and down with accessories.

My favorite ways to wear it: with a furry vest (like the one I’m wearing above) and boots for weekend, and then with colored tights and contrasting pumps (as seen here) for work.

P.S. Click here to check out the Leo Legacy print created in support of BCRF (it’s just $99, and also available in a blouse). Anne Klein is making a one-time donation of $50,000 to the foundation; donation amount is not contingent upon sales.

Love the shape of this dress.

This orange peacoat is perfection.

And finally, I spotted this lovely lady in the dressing room and thought she looked so incredible in this leather shift that I had to take her picture. It’s a piece that you’d think would be tricky…but is actually a great, wearable classic. (Planning a how-to-wear-it post ASAP.)

Thanks so much to Anne Klein and InStyle for having me!

Fall Fashion with Jones New York

The thing about fall clothing that’s so fun:

…well, everything.

It’s true. Fall clothes = so fun.

But especially fun is the fact that you get to start playing with layers, which means endless mixing and matching…and the exponential expansion of your closet’s possibilities.

These were the topics under discussion at last night’s event: I was at Macy’s with Wendy Hirschberg and Jeffrey Thorpe (pictured with me above) from Jones New York for a fashion show and some day-to-night inspiration.

(I also got to hang out with my friend Anna from Lifebooker, which is always a good – and too rare, these days – thing.)

Perfect fall neutrals

Cozy tweed layers

Day-to-night shine (just swap out the leather pants for denim while the sun’s out)

And because I a) can’t resist the gravitational pull of racks of clothing and b) am a ham, I tried on a couple of Jones New York pieces myself.

I’d wear this look to drink a fantastic glass of red wine while sitting in front of a fireplace at my local tavern (just fantasizing here)…

And this one for…Saturday brunch. And then shopping. And then a movie date, maybe.

Thanks so much to Jones New York and InStyle for having me!
