My Looks

Pave Paradise

I go on a lot about red handbags, and how much I think they’re a wardrobe staple, right up there with black and brown. And I mean it: once you just embrace the fact that your purse is red and start wearing the thing wherever your stylish self wants to go, you’ll start to realize…

Oh. Red handbags look good with everything.

Same goes for red leather jackets.

You just have to find the right shape (in my case, a slim-fitting motorcycle jacket with zippers and extra-long, flared sleeves), and then you have to commit.

And then: boom, awesome.

The very first leather jacket I owned was a hand-me-down from my mom that, sadly, no longer even comes close to closing in the front (I’m holding on to it in the off-chance that I one day have a girl and that her teenage years coincide with 1960s fashion still looking cool and not unbelievably old, which it very well might considering my daughter wearing something from the 1960s will be the equivalent of me wearing something from the 1930s, which is crazy and something I think we shouldn’t dwell too much on).

The next leather jacket I owned was a bulky Harley-Davidson style with ridiculous fringe all over it that wasn’t exactly fashionable…but came in very handy when I had a not-so-minor motorcycle mishap during a road trip to Canada. I don’t know where it went, and that’s probably okay.

Because I like this one best of all.

I mean, that is red.

On me: Black Rivet Lamb Cropped Moto Jacket via Wilsons Leather; Joie lace top (similar); Pave Hoop Earrings c/o Ann Taylor; J. Brand jeans, BCBG sunglasses, Alexandra Satine Rue Rivoli bag (previously seen here), L.A.M.B. shoes via Piperlime (similar), Sophia Forero ruby ring (close-up shot).
