Oh, Fine, I Admit It: I Totally Like Bralets

I still am not quite sure I can pull them off, but I have a friend who wears one on the regular and looks so fabulous in it that she was street-style-blogged a couple of days ago.

Anyway, reader Marielle wanted to know where to find some affordable versions, and the answer is: TopShop. ASOS has a few options as well, but I think TopShop’s are much cuter (plus, they start at about $24 and go up into the $50s, so they’re not outrageously priced). The one pictured above is my favorite, but here are some more pretties:

And just because this thing is seriously intimidating to contemplate actually, you know, putting on…here are some ways that I’d style the look (note that in both outfits, 1. the bralet is paired with a high-waisted piece so that it’s more sliver-of-skin than total-exposure, and 2. at least one half of the body is relatively covered-up, either with an oversized cardigan or a maxi skirt).

Hi Jordan! I love these style posts and these outfits! I also love how you put them together in your blog. All fashion style aside, how do you add to your blog style by piecing together the outfits in such a classy way (white background, clothes cleanly laid out to create the whole outfit, etc) Are you a photoshop guru?

hey there! thank you! i actually have no idea how to use photoshop – my photo-sprucing-up talents begin and end with iphoto’s “enhance” tool. i use polyvore to make those outfit layouts – it’s SO easy (you can also use their pre-fab templates if you want something that looks more like a magazine spread). you can either screenshot the look that you put together, or publish it to your polyvore account and then snag the embed code for your blog (that’s what i did for this post, which is why you see all the outfit info after the jump).

let me know if you have any questions about using polyvore; happy to help.

I think you can definitely pull off a bralet if you pair it with high-waisted skirts and pants so there’s no midriff showing.

Jordan!  love this!  I want a neutral one to wear with the fuchsia maxi dress I DIY’ed into a maxi skirt. :)  Some other budget savers are at ‘Cotton On’ the store. :)

I would definitely wear one if I could find the perfect high-waisted skirt. I really love that first one you’re featuring. Faded denim is my fav.
