Comfortable Flats For Fall

Q. Hey Jordan,

I’m on the hunt for a pair of cute, comfortable flats. I’ve had little to no luck in the past–all my other flats end up hurting my feet worse than heels!

Have any recommendations?

A. Sometimes I feel like it’s harder to find a really comfortable pair of flats than it is to find a pair of heels that doesn’t make your feet scream. They’re too hard and cut into your feet, or the ruched bit at the heel chafes, or your toes bump up against the end…

Anyway, I hear you. For me, honestly, the key is spending a little bit more on quality leather (I love my Tory Burch Eddies in patent navy), and taking the time to try them on in the store if it’s a brand that you’re unfamiliar with.

    FWIW, I have the same issues with flats, and I walk to work (about a mile) so I’ve tried just about everything in the name of comfort. One pair that I LOVE is the Sam Edelman Felicia. Have them in plain black leather. They’re delicate and don’t have much in the way of arch support/cushioning/etc. — but my problem is always just avoiding blisters, and these have been comfy from day one. They sell them at Nordy’s and just got a bunch of great colors in for fall.

    I’ve found that Jcrew flats fit me the best. They’re pricey (although not as much as a Tory Burch pair!) but worth it if you find a brand you can keep going back to.
