American Classics

Fall is so exciting, no?

It’s the whole Back To School thing; I mean, I haven’t set foot in a classroom for more years now than I care to think about (save for a very expensive and slightly misguided stint at NYU for a Masters in Hospitality Management)…but still: the chill in the air makes me want to buy things like pencils and Trapper Keepers. But since I don’t have a ton of use for the aforementioned items, new, autumn-hued (and wildly affordable) clothing will have to do.

Let’s talk pattern-mixing. I love how the sheer paisley blouse and the striped cardigan totally shouldn’t work together, but do, and the reasons are these: 1) one pattern is small while the other is large, 2) both items are in the same color family, and 3) the rest of the outfit is simple as can be.

These are my new favorite shoes, without a doubt. They’re adorable, they’re cozy, they’re exactly what I’ve been looking for for fall, and they were less than thirty bucks at TJ Maxx. Score.

Three more weeks! Maybe.

On me: Cardigan c/o American Living for jcpenney, TJ Maxx sheer blouse over Abercrombie tank, Vintage Revolution jeans, Spike Ball Pendant c/o chloe + isabel, TJ Maxx boots, Rebecca Minkoff purse.

Lipstick: Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Ruby Star, one of my Best Fall Beauty Finds.

    Hey Jordan,

What kind of jeans do you wear with your pregnancy?  I recently found out I was pregnant (!!!!!!!), and will be at my most pregnant in the winter/early spring months.  NONE of my jeans fit me right now and I wear jeans everyday.  Just wondering what you found to be the most comfortable pregnancy jeans.

    Thanks!

    Congrats!!

I’ve continued to be able to button both pairs of my Vintage Revolution jeans (I have one skinny pair and one bootcut pair), because they sit VERY low and have a lot of stretch to them. Since they’re pushed even lower than usual by my stomach, however, I need to wear a shirt that covers the waistline. My other low-rise pairs must have less stretch or be less low-rise, but that’s where a maternity belt (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CT4A4C/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000OSAH8I&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0666FV595HZCQX8XMN1R) comes in handy.

For comfort, I love those cheap stretch skinny jeans brands that you find in discount stores – you can usually find brightly colored versions for around $20.

I love the pattern mixing!  The two prints work perfectly together.

    Hey Jordan,

I’m a first time reader and I totally LOVE your look here! You’re wearing all of my favorite fall hues! Just a question about your amazing lipstick – how is the wear on it? Do you find that it comes off easily or is it long wear like matte Mac lipsticks?

    Best!
    Sarah
