All Before 10AM

I woke up bright and early this morning excited to see a bit of Charleston before we start shooting. First order of business: finding a great breakfast spot within walking distance of the hotel.

On the advice of the concierge, I headed over to Joseph’s, where I had Eggs Sardou (basically Eggs Benedict with sauteed spinach and artichoke hearts instead of meat) and grits. Lord, do I ever love grits.

I worked off breakfast by spending an hour or so wandering around the city, which is without question one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been in my life. I actually called Kendrick and suggested that we consider moving here one day.

On the way back to the hotel, I popped into a beautiful home furnishings store called Vieuxtemps, which smelled like…well, heaven, if heaven were filled with jasmine and bamboo. Upon inquiring, I discovered that the scent was the Conservatory Candle. It’s expensive – $48 at Vieuxtemps and $44 here – but if candles are your thing, this might just be the best one I’ve ever smelled.

The last stop before heading to work was the most wallet-damaging one: I stopped into the Kingsley Warren Boutique on King Street, where I discovered my new favorite t-shirts, by Freeloader. They’re made of the softest, lightest material imaginable, and are only in the $20-$30 range. You must buy one. (I also bought the super-wide-leg yoga pants pictured above, $25, which are unbelievably soft and perfect for when you want to look just a little bit elegant while swanning around the house). The store just opened four days ago, so they don’t have a website, but you can call them at (843) 724-9144 to order.

Oh, I am so, so jealous! NYC may be my favorite place in the world, but Charleston won my heart the first time I visited and I've never been able to shake the thought of it – I love it more each time I visit. I DEFINITELY want to move there one day.
While you're there, you should have lunch at Jestine's (it's on Meeting St., I'm pretty sure!) I think it would totally be your style.

So random, but I read your blog today and wondered about the confy t-shirt you tried on. I happened to go to Loehmann's today, and what do you know, that brand of shirt was there, in the 20 dollar range, and they looked and felt fab. Just thought I'd share. Get yourself to Loehmann's tout suite.
