Weekend Snapshots

Saturday morning started with Aunt Morgan (who’s expecting her own little one in just a couple of months) and an alternately protective and skeptical Lucy.

What do I mean by alternately protective and skeptical?

Watch.

Skeptical:

See?

Later on, we met a bunch of my best girlfriends for brunch at Sojourn (where I had my birthday brunch back in May).

Sojourn is…ok. I’m not over-the-moon about the food or the portion sizes, but it’s pretty reasonable ($28 gets you an entree, a side, and unlimited cocktails; regular entrees hover around $12), and it’s respectably stroller-friendly, with plenty of space…plus the crowds don’t really head in until 2PM or so, so a reservation is no problem.

After brunch, Kendrick and Indy got in a little QT while I headed downtown to John Sahag Workshop to fix my roots problem (more on my New Mama Makeover later). While my highlights percolated, my colorist, Doug, showed me a new, weird discovery of his: Bling String. Sort of like tinsel for the hair, you tie bits to individual strands to create some holiday-friendly sparkle.

I ran into my mom getting a Keratin treatment at the salon – it actually was a coincidence; we just so happened to make appointments at exactly the same time – and she very generously offered to test-run a strand of blue tinsel. Cute :).

And this is my friend (and stylist) Karmela, who has the best hair in the universe and who I’m going back to the salon to see in a couple of weeks so she can teach me (and I can teach you) how to do that updo at home.

Ooh, and by the way – that’s the Broadway shirt that I wrote about in the StyleMint post last Friday. I’m bummed I only ordered that shirt in red and white; it also comes in a blue stripe, and I think I’m going to have to buy a second. (If you didn’t enter the StyleMint giveaway yet, click here to win a free T.)

Sunday was spent doing a newborn/family photo shoot with Ari (so fun; I’ll share some of the photos once I get them back) and walking around the city in the sunshine with various small, happy creatures. (Well, 2/3 of the small creatures were happy, anyway: Virgil got shots, and wasn’t too psyched about it.)
