SATC Reenactment / Less Fun Than You Might Imagine

Last night, after Kendrick and I went to see Inception (which reminded me of watching Kendrick play video games: mildly entertaining, vaguely confusing, and definitely not something I want to have happen for two-plus hours), we came home and more or less reenacted this scene from Sex and the City.

(I know; I’m sure it’s not exactly the kind of Sex and the City scene he was hoping for, either.)

So I’m in a lot of pain: to be honest, even typing this is miserable. I don’t know whether I pinched a nerve or pulled a muscle (I’m leaning towards nerve, since it’s a sharp pain on the right side of the base of my neck that makes it difficult to turn my head or lift my arm), and really don’t know how I would have gone about doing either of those things in the last 24 hours, since I haven’t been particularly active. Any advice from those of you more familiar with these sorts of things?

Ooh, ouch! No advice I'm afraid, but lots of empathy. Get well soon. x

Oh geez, definitely not a sexy scene. Hope you feel better soon…things like this shouldn't last too long.

Sounds like a muscle spasm – I've had them before. I recommend heat to loosen the muscle and alternate with ice for the pain. Aleve or another anti-inflammatory should help and if it's not better in 48 hours see a doctor.

Oh gosh, that's so painful. I had a similar occurrence last year. I was stuck on my living room floor and could barely move. Definitely second the heat + pain reliever recommendation. Also try a really hot bath with Epsom salts. If you can, definitely try and get a massage; I love booking through Lifebooker (super cheap discounts). I recommend Jeunesse on the UWS with their massage therapist Nick.

I hope you feel better soon!

Was great running into you and Kendrick at the movies. One piece of advice – try going to my Chiropractor (and client) Dr. Steven D. Levine. He practices ART (active release technique) and is a magician. He is one of the only ART providers in the city to take insurance so that's a plus. His numero is 646-484-6480 and he is at 30 5th Avenue.
