Happy Valentine’s Day!

For tonight’s outfit I decided to skip all things pink/red/frilly/romantic and go for short + tight. Plus a touch of leather.

We’re keeping it low-key this year: I was running around all day and didn’t have time to cook up something appropriately celebratory, so we decided to just head out to our favorite local Italian place for a little pasta and toasting.

Lots of love this Valentine’s Day from me to you -

J

Loving your hair in this pic! What did you do to get it like that? Any certain technique or product?

This is 2-day-old flat-iron curled hair! Remember I said it lasted FOREVER? It totally does – you just rejuvenate it a bit with a curl or two.
I also spritzed the ends with a bit of Bamboo Kendi Dry Oil Mist to give them shine.

Thank you! It’s the flat-iron curls.

I tried to do my hair like that Saturday for a night out. I watched the tutorial video and it seemed so easy…. but it was a total FAIL for me. I kept twisting the flat iron all over the place because I was confused with the mirror image, and then had trouble twisting without burning myself. :(

you know, i’ve had some trouble doing it at home too. once it worked really well, and once…not so much. i asked franny about this, and she said that sadly enough i probably need to buy a fancier iron – mine keeps pulling on my hair so it sort of jerks along rather than moving smoothly. i might actually invest in one, because i really do love the look.

and oh – the burning? that happened to me too…and you know what i did? i put on a pair of kevlar gloves that i keep in the kitchen to prevent me from grating off my knuckles. looks weird; works like a charm.

oh, and one more thing: if you’re more comfortable with a curling iron, you can get a similar effect by clamping the iron about an inch from the bottom of your hair and starting the curl from there. remember to twist sections in both directions for the most natural look.
