Fourth Of July At The Fair

No fancy nails or glitter headbands this year; for our son’s second-ever Fourth of July we decided to head to the John Jay Homestead in Katonah.

The whole thing was too cute, and could have basically been called The Adorable Family Fun Fair: rainbow rocket pops, crafting, ponies, face-painting…

And a sheepherding demonstration. I know, I know, but I swear: it was much cooler than it sounds. Mostly because my life does not involve dogs who do what they are told, ever, so the composure of the border collie pictured above was nothing short of astounding.

I wore a romper that I’d long since abandoned as a relic of a bygone era…but broke out of the back of my closet because it’s literally the smallest, most lightweight item of clothing I own, and it was so hot out that I needed to have as little as possible on my body.

Kendrick wore his cool new shoes.

And I got Fourth of July kisses.
