We vacation in the OBX every summer, and since I live in the Philly area, I am VERY familiar with this trip! The Bay Bridge, the 45mph speed limits along route 13, Princess Anne, etc. This video got me so excited for my trip down there this summer! I'll have to check out Valerie's, though. I've somehow missed that gem on my previous travels.
Also, I LOVE the videos of you and Kendrick together. You guys always seem like you're having such fun!

You're the cutest! I really love road trips, if for no reason other than the amazingly bad fast food. I'm thinking of suggesting one up the East Coast for our mini-moon (mini honeymoon), but my fiance travels every single day for work, so he might not be so thrilled about the idea.

You guys are adorable and this looked like such fun. A road trip with your best friend — what could be better?
Ha! I LOVE that you mentioned the bit about opening the doors and not drowning. I have a weird panic about bridges and tunnels, and always share random tidbits about ways to prevent “death by drowning” including the one about opening the doors. I even always unlock the doors and roll down windows (to swim out) and am always poised to unbuckle my seat-belt if necessary. My fiance thinks I'm morbid and somewhat insane, but he'll thank me one day should a bridge (God forbid!) collapse while we're on it. I'm so showing him this when he gets home. It's not just me!!

Jordan you're so freaking cute in this video, it's amazing how high your energy stays throughout!! It takes a lot of fun, cheesy songs to sing along to to get through long hours on the road!

i haven't read every blog post (sorry, ha) but did you guys get crabs anywhere? pretty much the chesapeake staple, although it's a little early and the best crab places don't open for another few weeks.
another question, off topic, but do you ever worry/wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen in these off-the-path “dive” spots like this place in Dover or other similar places? i'm not a germophobe by any means, but i *do* wonder about this… what is your take? does it cross your mind at all? ever peruse those websites that list health code violations against restaurants, just out of curiosity?

an 18 wheeler actually hit a car in a head-on collision last summer when the Bay Bridge (rt 50 between annapolis MD and the Eastern Shore), and needless to say it was tragic. the bridge is actually 2 bridges, one east and one westbound, but due to construction it had 2 way traffic… i wonder if the ches bridge/tunnel will ever go 2-way for construction? it's a MUCH longer bridge/tunnel and would be pretty scary to drive with 2 way traffic. so many bad drivers out there, makes you wonder…

How horrible. That first tunnel terrified me – I was having a total panic attack through the entire thing. It's realllly long, with 2-way traffic, and felt extremely narrow.

We meant to get seafood in Delaware or Maryland, but had a lot of trouble finding the kind of cute, local place we were looking for – we kept going off onto side roads, with no luck. Re: kitchen cleanliness….not really. I've worked in lots of high-end restaurants with terrifying kitchens and sanitation practices, so I think it has more to do with the attitude of the staff than the fanciness of the place. Unless I actually see something for myself (for example, if I cross paths with a bug I am OUT OF THERE), I don't really worry about it.
