I spent last night at Milk Studios covering the backstage scene at Erickson Beamon.
I was taping a segment for one of the show’s sponsors, scunci (you know, the hair accessories brand), so my focus was on the models’ fabulous 1920s-with-a-twist ‘dos (they used scunci products as the foundation for the styles, which in turn highlighted the incredible Erickson Beamon headpieces).
I managed to snag a headpiece to wear for part of the segment. I’ve never worn one of those things before; I kinda love it.
The stylists created faux bobs on the models by adding a ton of product to the hair, molding finger waves around the face, and then teasing the rest of the hair to bits and pinning up the lower half underneath. I love this. I tried it once; it worked out pretty well. I’ll have to try it again one of these days.

My beachy waves were courtesy of Karmela at John Sahag Workshop – I got my hair done at 3:30, and they were still kicking when I got home around ten. Mini-miracle.
The presentation was staged like a 1920s cocktail party, with a band (The Citizens Band) and models dancing and hanging out all around the stage. (I didn’t actually crash the presentation; we shot the outro segment with me sitting at one of the bar tables on stage before it began.)
