Tip of the Day: How to Store Tomatoes

Mom was right when she told you never to store tomatoes in the refrigerator; it makes them turn mealy and lose their taste. Store unripe tomatoes in a cool, dry place, and keep ripe ones in a paper towel-lined bowl at room temperature (preferably in a single layer).

I just had to explain this to my boyfriend the other day. He was stunned, and suspicious, and I don't think I've convinced him that tomatoes in the fridge is a bad idea.

I just explained this to Kendrick tonight, and he was skeptical too! He's presently researching why, exactly, tomato tastiness flees in the presence of refrigerator-esque conditions.
