Piles Of Color / Pillow Decor

How beautiful is this? And the best part is that all you really need are…pillows. Really, look at what else is going on here: it’s a white window seat, and a wooden table. And a plant.

The second-best part: if you decorate with a neutral background palette, adding interest and color through accessories only, you’ll be able to switch it up on a whim for far, far less cash than if, say, you had invested in a hot-pink couch.

And while pillows themselves can be a fortune, you can also find beautiful, surprisingly affordable throws if you know where to look. Some of my favorite finds have been from HomeGoods or TJ Maxx (or street fairs – there’s usually a stand selling brightly colored pillow covers for standard sizes), but here are some more good places to check out (click image for link):

Urban Outfitters ($30-$50)

Chiasso ($30-$50)

Pillowdecor.com ($10-20)

Target ($10-$50)

CB2 ($20-$60)

I just moved into a new apartment and my living area is very much that birch veneer from ikea, navy blue, and dark grey right now. Perfect setting for color and metallics and I’ve been SCOURING the internets for pillows! Thanks for posting this!

my pleasure! that’s a great palette to start from – love the idea of hot pinks or oranges with navy and dark grey.

Etsy is a really really great place to find inexpensive pillows!  I just searched by whatever color I was looking for or by terms like “birds” and had so many choices!
