Money-Saving Tip of the Day

Carla tells me that if you go to Macy’s and show an out-of-state ID card, you get 10% off of your purchases. Amazing.

According to their website:

“Domestic visitors are eligible to receive our Welcome Savings Pass, which offers up to 10% savings in all Macy’s stores nationwide for five days after validation.

International visitors can receive the Welcome International Savings Card, which is available in 10 languages and offers 10% savings in all Macy’s stores for 30 days after validation.”

Same rules apply for Bloomingdales & Lord & Taylor.

Yes! The nice lady at Macy's told me that when I went to NY (from the UK). Was back in 2007, when I got $2 to a £1 (those days are long gone) so I *may* have gone a little crazy in the jewellery dept… ;) I know some people are snobby about it, but I love Macy's.

I totally love Macy's, and will apologize to no one for it :)
Especially the jewelry department – things are often up to 65% off, and then when you add on all the discounts they send you in the mail, you can get some absolutely unbelievable deals.

Really? Do they post the policy on their websites? That'd be awesome!

That's such a fun tip! I didn't know about that. I'm a Macy's fan. I especially love the bridge for cocktail party dresses and all the home goods. My china is from Mikasa purchased via Macy's at a ridiculous savings compared to buying from Mikasa directly. they're not as chic as some of the other department stores in the city (the clearance dept is always horrifyingly messy!), but they really do have fantastic stuff.
