So you know those little plastic whatsits that keep your bread bags closed? I am utterly incapable of holding onto them for more than a day. Fortunately, I also have a habit of shedding bobby pins wherever I roam, so there’s always a bunch close at hand that I can use to protect my delicate carbs from the elements.
Other excellent ways to call bobby pins into action:
- Tiny screwdrivers (pop off the rubber thingy on the end and they’re the perfect size for quick eyeglasses repairs)
- Drain hair removal (ew, but if you just fashion a bobby pin into a sort of hook-thing it works perfectly)
- Fingernail maintenance (again, just pop off the rubber thing to create a sharp edge)
- Holding wires in place (just thread through the end of the pin and push the pin down between your floorboards. Careful, though, if you have small animals/kids around; you don’t want them to get yanked out of the floor and munched on.)
- Christmas tree ornament hook
- Tie clip
- Substitute zipper pull
- Fingernail polish corrector (just wrap a little cotton around one end and soak in polish remover)
- Cufflinks! Seriously. At Morgan’s wedding, Kendrick lost one of his cufflinks, so I just handed over one of the bobby pins I carry around in my purse (large-ish stud earrings work as makeshift cufflinks in a pinch, too).
Like I said: mini miracles.
