Saturday AM

Saturday morning began on my rooftop, where yoga instructor Rebekah Morin of Reflections Yoga (250 W. 49th Street) and Yoga People (260 Montague Street) taught me (and Kendrick, sorta) how to do a quick at-home yoga session. Video to come!

Afterwards, feeling nice and healthy, I headed over to Gina La Fornarina with Morgan and Carla for bellinis and brunch. The first thing to say about the restaurant is that it is extremely, extremely pink – hence the abundance of brunching girlfriends and young couples with babies. The atmosphere is also much, much better in the summer: in the winter, it’s kind of small and unremarkable inside, but in the warm months the entire front opens up to the street; I’d say 50% of the tables at least feel like they’re outside.

And the food? It was UNBELIEVABLY good – and I loved how many atypical items there were on the brunch menu, which went far beyond your run-of-the-mill eggs benedict and pancakes. I had the Brunch Pizza (pizza margherita with eggs and bacon), which is now on my list of foods I regularly fantasize about. It’s sort of pricey for a brunch item – $17 – but look at it! It could easily be split between two (I brought half of it home for Kendrick). Morgan had the focaccia with avocado, tomato, and prosciutto, and reported that it, too, was quite delicious.
