OMG.

LOOK AT WHAT I JUST FOUND IN THE MAIL.

Specialty AllStar Organics GARLIC SALT. (See all the caps? That means I’m excited.) Seriously, are the company reps mind-readers? Did I know them in a past life? Or did they read this?

I will let you know how it tastes. I suspect that the answer will be “like a tiny, garlic-y cloud fallen from heaven.”

Have you considered making your own garlic salt? My main issue with the condiment/seasoning/whatever is that you're paying for is a spice with salt added and you can't control it at all–not to be all Alton Brown here, but you could create your own ratio of garlic to salt just using separate ingredients (i.e. garlic powder and salt) and make it your own, especially when it comes to allowing for excess sodium intake and whatnot.

And ultimately, you can market that as your own garlic salt! ;-)

Rock on Jordorable. I am toasting my delish and somewhat warm bud light to you and your new blog life!

I like this idea a lot. I find most things just have way way too much sodium and when I started to significantly cut back on added salt I felt like I could actually taste the food itself. Although I do admit that it took me a while to wean myself off of the large amounts of salt I was using

I like the idea of making your own spices too. You could go all fancy – make your own garlic powder and use like, pink himalayan salt. ;)

On that note, I recently stumbled upon angelica salt, which sounded REALLY weird at first, but it was absolutely amazing. Nom.

Phew. Good thing you changed that pic.

Really, Jordan? Is this what you've been living off? This would make sense. We'd like to see you succeed, but we can pretty much guarantee that you're going to drop like a dead fly at any given moment, given your sickly, bobble-head silhouette.

Have a sandwich. Eat some protein. Enjoy some good 'ol fashioned FAT. Cause God knows you need it. Girl cannot survive on garlic flakes alone. Seriously, it's really unflattering when your head is 3 times the width of your hips. No joke. It's kinda painful to watch.

    “Ramshackle Salt.” Ha! )
I actually do sorta make a version of my own: I have this big vintage jadeite jar that says “Seasoning” on it, and I sort of pour a mix of different garlics and various salts into it whenever I feel like it, and use it on an embarrassing number of dishes.
Never heard of angelica salt, but the company also sent me something called “Applewood Smoked Salt” that looks cool. I don't think I'd use it for cooking, obviously – more for finishing salads, sprinkling over tomatoes, things like that.

I just can't do it. I learned excessive use of salt from my dad (he and I both put salt on everything, including bread and butter…which apparently – and I didn't know this until very recently – is kind of weird).

Ouch Regina George, it's one thing to comment on one's use of spices but who made you the body police? Accusing a healthy woman of disordered eating and commenting on her body is not only extremely damaging to any woman's self image but it makes it ok for men and society to comment this way. (Thanks Tina Fey, for all of the memories.)
Also, not sure who “we” are but those are definitely not the thoughts of all or many comments here sooooo let's keep it that way thanks!

OK. I've gotten a whole bunch of emails this morning about this comment, and honestly, I wasn't even going to respond, because it simply doesn't bother me. Attacks on my values, my family…those things bother me, but attacks on my eating habits and body – both of which I think are just dandy – don't. But then I thought better of it, because lots of young women read here, and I want to let them know that this is not OK. This kind of viciousness about a woman's shape – any woman's shape – is incredibly damaging, and has consequences that I suspect the writer of this comment never thought about.
I welcome discussion and criticism, but this kind of negativity has no place on this website. Going forward, comments like this one will be deleted.

I put salt on bread and butter too! I have even been known to put salt on tortilla chips, that already have salt on them…… Learned it from my mom. I panic when I sit down at a restaurant and there is no salt and pepper on the table.

I've had onion salt (nice in an omelette) but never garlic. I think one day I should…

I totally put salt on bread and butter! I salt everything. I'm not a fan of garlic salt (sorry!), but I do love salts. Have you every checked out the store The Meadow? They specialize in salt and have hundreds of different kinds. They make a smoked salt that I carry around in my purse and use on sandwiches and things when I'm out (my friends are used to it and actually ask me if I have any “cool salt” in my purse). They also make these freaking amazing Himalayan pink salt plates. I have a few of them and use them for baking bread, frying eggs, serving cold appetizers like sliced cheese and fruit. Because of this I've learned that salt is incredible on fruit like papaya and pear slices. So incredible!

Himalayan pink salt is pretty incredible…but I've never thought about putting it on papaya or pear! Oh my, that sounds delicious.
