I get quite a lot of emails asking what kind of camera I use, and since this week I got to spend a fairly enormous chunk of time and money on a (much-needed) cleaning, minor repair, and a new lens, I thought I’d go ahead and answer the question right here.

Introducing: Fourth Love Maternity
You know my friend Morgan?
If you’ve been reading here for more than a couple of months I’m sure you do; Morgan and I were pregnant at the same time, and she and her husband and son lived just a few blocks away from us on the UES. We were with them pretty much constantly for years, until all of us ended up moving out of the city (again, at pretty much exactly the same time as each other, albeit to different coasts).
It was an incredible experience, being able to share all of those enormous life changes with one of my very best friends in the world. And I miss her so much.
Even more now that she’s got another baby on the way – a girl this time (which means that there are shopping trips involving tutus in my future). I wish I could be right there next to her sharing this experience as well…but for now I’ll have to settle for phone calls.
And photos.
Glowing!
In these photos, Morgan’s wearing Fourth Love, a maternity line that she recently discovered and that I wanted to introduce to those of you who might be expecting as well. Designer Susan Cho started the line in the midst of her second pregnancy in an effort to create comfortable maternity wear that women would be able to wear over the course of (and even after) their pregnancies.
I’m completely on board with this: so many of the dresses, sweaters and tees that I wore while pregnant continued to be a part of my wardrobe even after I gave birth; of course they fit me completely differently than they did when I was expecting, but still: I never liked the idea of buying something (expensive) that would fit for two weeks and then boom: your body is different, or your priorities have shifted, and into storage it goes. What I do love: the idea of choosing affordable pieces in fabrics that flatter your figure while it changes over the months…and then offer comfortable solutions for running around after a newborn.
Love love love.

In My Carry-On
Alright, so maybe I’ve been packed for nearly a week now. What can I say? This is going to be the first time the three of us are traveling together on a flight longer than an hour and a half (we’ve previously taken Indy on a plane to visit my family in Canada, but that’s it), and I guess I’m a little anxious.
The chances that I’ve forgotten something major are 100%, but I figure as long as we have an iPad and some emergency pasta in the carry-on we’re good for the plane ride, and we can pick up anything else we might need once we land.
What else is coming in my carry-on? Let’s take a look.
1. The carry-on itself: a summery Ann Taylor tote that’s going to go with me everywhere all week long (and a miniature version that acts as a wallet during the day and then doubles as a clutch for night).
2. Heart-shaped sunglasses, obviously.
3. A polka-dot bikini, in case I feel the need to jump into the ocean before we even make it to our room (it’s possible).
4. Leopard-print shorts to change into just before landing.
5. A rose-gold and crystal bangle, just because.
6. Lots and lots and lots of sunscreen (Aveeno SPF 50 for Indy; Pevonia SPF 30 for me).
7. Boogie Wipes and a toy cell phone.
8. Comfortable sandals that work equally well for the plane and for the beach.

Lust Object: Lime-Green Outdoor Furniture
When I moved into my house in L.A., I found two seriously bedraggled white Adirondack chairs left by the previous owners sitting on the front porch. Within days, I’d dragged them into the backyard and painted them a bright lime-green – probably my first DIY painting project ever.
I loved those chairs, but when I moved back across the country into a 300-square-foot Hell’s Kitchen apartment, they stayed put right where they were. I like to think that they’re still there.
I also think it might be time for a revisit. Keeping my eyes open at yard sales this summer for paintable porch things.
All furniture pictured above on sale today on Joss & Main.
