Exciting Announcement: Dove Hair Brand Ambassadorship

So I have some news that I’ve been waiting to share with you for awhile now, but no longer! I am over-the-moon excited to tell you that for the next year, I’m going to be joining the Dove Hair team as their Brand Ambassador.

I mean…Dove. Dove! Beyond the fact that their products have been a staple for me and my family for as long as I can remember, I’ve been struck for years (decades?) now by the company’s approach to real beauty and their commitment to building self-esteem in women of all ages. I remember seeing those ads featuring a lineup of real women years ago (I think it was right around the time I graduated from college) and thinking to myself how beautiful they were, and how cool it would be to appear in one. So to have the opportunity to work this closely with a company that I have such admiration for – it’s a dream come true.

So what does this brand ambassadorship mean? All sorts of awesome stuff: I’ll be testing out products and styles for you, providing my very best hair tricks and tips in posts and videos, working as a “real world” counterpoint to celebrity stylist Mark Townsend, and attending Dove events to provide on-the-go coverage (I’ve got one coming up in the Hamptons that I’m pretty psyched about), among other things.

Another exciting thing about being the Dove Hair Brand Ambassador is that I now have access to all sorts of fantastic Dove products…which means that you now have access to all sorts of fantastic Dove products. So to kick off the program, I’d like to give fifty readers (yes, fifty) the opportunity to try out two products that I’m completely obsessed with at the moment: the Nourishing Oil Care Detangler (I use this every single time I brush out my wet hair, and think it’s an absolute beach bag essential) and the Style+Care Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum, which is a lightweight frizz-fighter that you smooth onto your ends to break them up a bit and give them some lovely, healthy shine.

To win your very own full-sized version of both products, just comment below – anything goes, really, but I’d love to hear your very first Dove memory (everyone has one, right?). I’ll pick 50 winners at random one week from today. (Contest open to U.S. readers only.)

Thank you so much to DailyGlow.com for this morning’s awesome interview and coverage of the partnership!

Dove is a sponsor of Ramshackle Glam.

Love that the products are gentle on my sensitive skin ever since I was a bitty one! Also, love their efforts to showcase a variety of beauty. It’s sadly still very rare.

I love the clean feel and smell of the original bar!

I prefer bar soap to bodywash – always have. Most bar soap is crap! But dove is great – a classic, clean and cheap choice.

  • Ronja

I love the scent and softness of Dove… the original bar is still my favorite shower wash to this day!

  • Noelle

I’ve used at least one Dove product almost every day since junior high! (Not too difficult since I use their deodorant every morning, but still.)

I love that they are making every woman beautiful in their own skin! I’ve always loved their products and my family and I will continue to use them in the years to come

What exciting news!  I just tried the heat styling spray you recommended a while ago and love it.

Dove was the soap my mom bought at BJ’s (and maybe still does?), so my earliest memory is actually having to jump out of the shower upon discovering there was no more soap and trying to wrassle a new bar loose from the cardboard box.  Hurrah for soap! And real women!

  • Rachael Barry

I would love to try that detangler.  I just ran out of the one I usually use.

  • Meg

    Congratulations Jordan!!

I love dove soap because it reminds me of my grandma’s bathroom from when I was a little girl. Anytime I smell it, it’s instant time-travel.

  • Natalie

My first memory of Dove is using the soap at camp. It was the perfect thing to have on hand after long and sweaty days in the sun.

I really like Dove products, but I don’t remember my first experience with them! I do have a Dove soap in my bathroom though!

  • ehubbsk

I can’t remember my first Dove memory, but I’ve used Dove bar soap in the shower for as long as I can remember

I feel like my first Dove experience had to have been with the classic soap. My mom always switched between Dove and Ivory.

  • Manda

Like Renee, my mom always had Dove or Ivory soap in the bathtub growing up.  A staple!  But I’ve always appreciated their marketing of real women as well.

  • Sandersite

Congratulations – how awesome to be dove ambassador!!

  • Amarilis

We have always used Dove soap at our home! We bought Dove soap bars for years until the body wash came out… I only buy Dove body wash and now my husband uses Dove’s Men+Care line! Can’t wait to try out Dove’s hair products, especially the Nourishing Oil Care Detangler which sounds perfect for the summer!

  • Sarah S

I remember toting bottles of Dove with me into the swim team locker room after practice.

  • Andersonkq

When I first began wearing makeup, my mom recommended Dove soap to wash it off at the end of the day…the scent takes me back to those days and brings a smile to my face. It’s a beauty staple that’s still part of my routine even now.

  • Kristin M

Dove was the first facial moisturizer I used…. I used them for YEARS and sadly I think they were discontinued.  Anyhow, have been a huge fan of their “real women” models for their campaigns.  Congrats, Jordan!

  • theshizzles

I don’t think this is my first memory but I absolutely love their real beauty campaign. They use real women and real bodies and I adore them for that!

  • Molly

Congrats, Jordan! I love Dove products…their bar soap always smells like home to me.

  • jhager027

I remember my grandmother and mother always using Dove bar soap. It’s a classic!

  • Becca

Congratulations! My favorite Dove memory is the smell of the Dove lotion I used while I was studying abroad in Paris. I couldn’t afford fancy french perfumes, but I loved the smell of this particular lotion and it made me feel sophisticated and chic on my student budget! I can’t find it anymore but the smell still makes me so happy and deeply nostalgic.

Congrats, Jordan! My family always used Dove bar soap growing up, so that’s what I always think of when I see Dove products :)

Congratulations Jordan!  What an awesome partnership! I, too, remember the Dove advertisements with different shaped women as beautiful, and LOVED it.  I’ve actually never used Dove products, oddly enough, so I don’t have any “first” moments, besides the advertisements. :)

  • Amanda Moore

Congrats!  My hair could DEFINITELY use ANY of these products.  THANK YOU!

Oh man, my hair is going to NEED some detangler since I’m spending most of my weekends at the beach from here on out.

I really just entered because I like free stuff, but I started thinking about my first Dove memory and I realized Dove was always a “grown-up lady” soap in my mind. When I was little, I got Ivory for my baths, but my mom used Dove for her face, and I always tried to sneak it because it felt so much softer and luxurious.

Congrats Jordan! Such a great partnership and totally exciting.  My first memory of Dove dates back to when I was around 3 or 4 years old.  My mother used to drop me off at my grandmother’s house while she went to work.  I was an avid painter ( water colors) and I remember my grandmother always using Dove soap to scrub off this little Picasso after I made a huge mess.  The smell of their products still take me back to those days.

  • Carla Corvo

    YAYYYY!!! Congratulations!!!
I really love Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented Body Wash.
I’m allergic to EVERYTHING. But this. It is perfect for dry/allergy prone skin. And my grandmother washed her face with dove bar soap every single day and had PERFECT skin.

  • Jamielbell

Congratulations! What wonderful news! I am a big fan of all Dove products but regularly purchase their Dry Shampoo! It’s weightless and has a light, clean aroma!

  • Midestiny09

    Wow! That’s Awesome!!
Dove is my favorite. I love them all, but I usually use the original/white bar. Dove is really refreshing & make my skin smooth & soft. Even the hair product is great.

  • curlygirly883

LOVE the idea of the instant oil detangler for beach and pool. . . and I bet a few squirts on the ends pre-pool will help keep blond strands from soaking up the telltale chlorine green . . .

My first vivid memory of Dove was arriving on campus my freshman year of college. I had to fly, so I couldn’t pack much, I didn’t have a car, and things like toiletries were just things I was going to have to figure out once I got there. But alas, a wonderful little gift bag filled with dorm essentials awaited me, including Dove shampoo, conditioner and/or body wash. Made the first week SO much easier, I remember!

I have been using Dove Body Wash, Deodorant and Bar Soap for years! I also just recently discovered their dry shampoo and love it. And you’re right Jordan, that first ad campaign (and every one since) is just stunning. I love seeing those women looking like me and rocking it! The world needs more companies like Dove.

  • pippip

hmm, not sure about my first memory…but I want that detangler.  I’m already a fan of their deodorant.

  • http://avalonandkelly.blogspot.com/ Jeanine Marie

I reach for Dove when I want something that will leave me with a clean scent.  It reminds of my mom back in the day.

  • Talia

I went to an inspiring Dove sponsored event my freshman year of college. The guest speaker was a well known author who struggled with anorexia in her early years.

  • Melissa J Colorado

My hair hates humidity. Hates, hates it. I got those annoying baby hairs that stand up around the ends of my bangs. I need a product that will help me because I can’t spend all my hard earned money on the salon. Would love to Try out these dove products pweeeeeease

  • Srouser

Congrats, Jordan! LOVE all things Dove. Originally fell in love with the shampoo because of the amazing smell. Currently obsessed with the dry shampoo…!! Dying to try the detangler.

  • Sarah

My first Dove memory is my grandmother using the bar soap.  We now live in (and own) her old house and I use the sensitive skin version of the same soap.

    Congrats on your ambassadorship!

  • Caitlin

Mine is smelling my boyfriend, now husband, after a shower.

  • Fabamanda

To me, Dove means moisture.  Love it!

  • Tjw28

I remember my mother telling me that it’s the only soap I should ever use on my face.  This was when I was about 13 or so, and I’m 30 now and still loving it!
