Test-Run: ImPRESS Press-On Manicure

Just to skip ahead to the end: I love these. Because they are pretty and weird-easy to apply, and also because I am lazy about my nails and products like press-on nails are basically a godsend.

Never in a million years would I be capable of growing out my nails so that they were lovely and even, and even if I were capable of such a feat I would not be able to work it out so that I would not chip or smudge or otherwise irreparably destroy my polish within thirty seconds of application. I’ve played around with nail strips and DIY Gel Manicure Kits in the past, and the ImPRESS kit is my favorite faux nail solution by far.

How it works:

1. Start with clean, dry nails.

2. Play around to find the nail sizes that fit you the best, and then lay them out in the order you’re going to apply them (important: apply thumbs last).

3. Wipe nails with the “prep pad” to remove any remaining residue.

4. Press on nails firmly. They can be filed and cut after 30 minutes. (I went for the “short” length so I don’t need to cut them, but there are tiny little bumps on the end that need to be filed. You can see them in the below photo, but they filed off in seconds.)

Love.

(I don’t know how sturdy they are yet, but I’ll update this post in a few days and let you know how long they lasted.)

I’ve totally done press on nails. They look legit the first day or so, then they start popping off and you have to re-apply them.

I just got my aryclic nails taken off.. I spent 30 last month getting them on, and another 20 getting them filled in after two weeks. Then 10 to take off. So, in a month I’ve spent 60 dollars on my nails. That’s crazy business. Not worth it.

I’d rather spend 6 dollars on press on nails any day.

i do love the look of acrylics, but i agree: such a pain to keep up. and once you finally take them off, your nails are shot.
i’m crossing my fingers that the press-ons make it through my trip this week, but thank you for the heads-up! i’m bringing along some extras in case i need to reapply.
