Wow, he is definitely your son :)

Curious, off topic question.  How did you get to and from the hospital?  Did you take a cab?  Car service?  Family/friend with a car?  NYC is such a weird place to drive, I’d be scared to put a baby in a car.  What’s it like travelling in the city with a baby in general?

we drove to and from the hospital in a taxi, using a car seat on the way back. my parents have a car and were going to drive us, but it ended up being easier to just grab a cab. it actually doesn’t make me too nervous having him in a taxi because while sure, taxi drivers are notorious for being sort of “enthusiastic” drivers, we’re talking generally low-speed travel – the accidents i’ve been involved in in the city have been more of the “bump” kind as opposed to high-speed highway accidents.

right now what we’re doing is using a car seat/frame contraption for a stroller, and i just install the car seat in the taxi when i have to go anywhere (i take taxis everywhere because i feel like he’s too little to take on the subway…which is getting SUPER expensive). i guess in a couple of months i’ll start feeling more comfortable using public transportation and a carrier. in sum, getting around the city with a baby is just not much fun, mostly because you have so much stuff. honestly, it’s pretty stressful every time i have to leave the house, which is a big part of why we’re thinking of moving.
