Just Exactly What I Wanted

It turned out that I could not have cared less what I wore during my post-birth hospital stay, busy as I was being alternately over-the-moon elated and psychotically exhausted. I cared about the Balthazar chocolate croissants that Morgan brought me to supplement the hospital food…but the cuteness of my slippers? Not so much.

This wasn’t what I expected: I’m someone whose mood is very much affected by what I’m wearing and whether I feel good in it, and I brought an assortment of different things to wear in the hospital under the assumption that pretty loungewear would be a mood-lifter in those tired first couple of days…but despite the fact that I packed some extremely cute polka-dot PJs, what I ended up wearing the most was a pair of super-loose black yoga pants and an oversized black t-shirt. It was comfortable, it fit, and it didn’t show the stains that it acquired while I figured out how to consume Jell-O over the head of a newborn.

But back when I thought I would care about such things, I decided that what I wanted to bring to the hospital was a straightforward pale-blue-and-white striped nightshirt or pajamas – sort of like an overgrown men’s button-down shirt. Very simple, very plain, in a soft (but not see-through) fabric. Sounds like the kind of thing that you’d see everywhere, no?

As it so happens, this is an utterly impossible item to find.

I mean it: I looked everywhere.

Everywhere, it seems, except for here…because hello! This is it:

It’s from Blush Lingerie Spring 2012, and I may pick one up just for commemorative purposes once it becomes available in stores.

And while we’re talking Blush Spring 2012…

Woo.
