Breakfast w/ Vogue, I.N.C., & Anna Dello Russo

Not a bad lineup for 8AM, hey?

So obviously I was a little nervous about what to wear. It being Fashion Week…and Vogue…and Conde Nast…then add in the whole about-to-give-birth thing…plus the rain thing…and…

Hmm.

Here’s what I came up with:

Light-as-tissue, humidity-combating Eliot button-down, Mavi black pants, Nine West shoesThomas Laine necklace.

I actually sort of loved it: it was so simple and comfortable (I wore Tory Burch flats while out and about, and slipped on the heels in the Conde Nast elevator — ooh, faux pas, faux pas, must worship at the kneecaps of the Conde elevator fashion show, I know).

I was really into the stretchy, easy-to-wear pencil skirt on the left (picture it with a denim jacket, vintage floral blouse and brown boots).

That’s Anna Dello Russo, who acted as I.N.C.’s guest editor at large for the F/W 2011 collection, on the left. Anna, incidentally, is described in the press release for the line as “famed fashion editrix and cult sensation.” The latter is such an incredible descriptor I had to repeat it here…can you imagine if, when people asked you what you did, you could say, “Oh, I’m a cult sensation”? No big deal.

And on the left, that’s what she wore…to a breakfast event. I understand the “cult sensation” thing now.

And I want that dress.
