2-Minute Summery Smoky Eye

(So serious in that screengrab! And so creepy, what with my ghost-self looking over my shoulder.)

What makes a summery smoky eye different from a wintry smoky eye, you ask? It’s softer, more golden, with no harsh lines…so soft, in fact, that it looks just as pretty in the daytime as it does at night.

The Inspiration:

If you’re not into watching (or not able to watch) videos, here’s a rundown of how to get the look:

1. Apply a shimmery gold shadow all over the lid, up to the brow (recommended: loose powder shadows like Make Up For Ever Star Powder).

2. Work a medium-brown shadow (preferably one with gold undertones) into the crease and up towards the brow bone, blending well (recommended: Sally Hansen trio palette in The Metallic).

3. Rim the entire eye with a thick golden-brown pencil (recommended: Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencil in Golden Triangle). Apply it generously; you’ll be smudging it in just a moment to create a dramatic but diffuse effect.

4. Smudge! If the pencil you own doesn’t have a smudging tool, a q-tip works just fine.

5. Line the inner rim of the lower lid with black or dark brown liner (recommended: CoverGirl Liquiline Blast in Black). For an even subtler effect, skip this step. Do not line the top lid.

6. Apply tons and tons of black mascara.

The other products I’m wearing in this video: Dr. Jart Beauty Balm (moisturizer/sunscreen/anti-aging serum/tinted makeup), Kjaer Weis Creme Blush, and Softlips.
