Two Completely Unrelated Questions I’ve Been Getting A Lot Lately

There are two questions I’ve been getting a lot in the last couple of weeks, so I thought I’d quickly answer them here (after the jump).

DRY EYE TREATMENT

First, several people have emailed me asking how my eye is doing (MUCH better – I’d say it’s 80% healed). A few have said that they have a similar problem and wanted to know how I’ve been treating it.

Now, I have both dry eye syndrome and corneal erosion, so I’m taking a much more extreme approach than you’ll need to if you just have the former condition (a lot of people do, and it gets worse in the winter). Of course, if you think you have a corneal abrasion or erosion, get thee to a doctor. My doctor recommended lots of prescription drops, but they were all super-expensive, so I just asked the pharmacist for less pricey OTC versions.

How I’ve been treating my eye issue:

– Vaporizer by the bed

– Tons and tons of water throughout the day

– Restasis (prescription eyedrops) a few times a day

– Lotemax (non-prescription anti-inflammatory eyedrops) at least 2x/day

– Zaditor (non-prescription allergy relief eyedrops) at least 2x/day

– Refresh Liquigel eyedrops (non-prescription heavy-duty moisturizing drops) whenever I think of it

– Muro 128 (non-prescription creamy ointment; yuck) in my affected eye at night (this is just for treating the erosion)

Now, a slightly less clinical and slightly more fun topic…

MY NEW CAMERA!

The camera that I’ve been using ever since Christmas (it was a gift from Kendrick) has made a huge difference in my approach to taking photos for this site. While nighttime food photography is still not ideal, it’s no longer a virtual impossibility…and my everyday photos are (in my opinion) about ten thousand times better. And I can take pictures of ugly food! Basically, I’m just having so much fun with it, and if you’re a blogger (or just enjoy photography) I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

My camera is a Canon Rebel T1i, and I have two lenses in addition to the kit lens that comes with the camera: a 50mm prime lens (does not zoom) and an enormous zoom lens that I have yet to try out (I used the kit lens for the Winter Sun photos). That’s pretty much the sum total of what I know about the camera, but if anyone has any other info to contribute (on this camera or others that they like), please feel free!
