This Kind Of Saturday…

…is my kind of Saturday.

Man, do I ever love weekends in fall. Especially when said weekends involve trips to the Doggie Country Fair in Central Park.

Kendrick, Morgan and I headed over bright and early with coffee from Sable’s and our respective kids.

Behind me you can see the “agility maze”. We thought it best not to involve Lucy and Virgil in this, as neither of them strikes me as scoring particularly high on the “agility” scale. And Cooper has a bit of the lunatic in him, so I’m not sure that focused, directed motion is his thing.

This is my absolute favorite breed of dog in the world – a Brussels Griffon – and every time I see one I want to pick it up and steal it away with me. Good thing this little guy was on a leash.

Yikes. Also…aw, buddy.

Cute cute cute.

After the fair, Kendrick and I dropped Lucy and Virgil off at home and headed downtown for a late lunch at Momofuku Noodle Bar.

There may be nothing more delicious on this planet than the steamed pork buns pictured above. We also had the steamed ham buns (the day’s special), but they were nothing more than a gussied-up ham-and-mustard sandwich. I wished we’d gotten more of the classic.

After Momofuku, we walked sort of northeast and ended up at Rue B, a speakeasy-type bar on Avenue B with a seriously fantastic specialty drink menu and live jazz every night at 9. And lots of naked pictures of girls on the walls.

Our fabulous bartender pouring me a Lower Manhattan (2 for $10 during Happy Hour; bourbon, sweet vermouth, maraschino liqueur & cherry bitters, chilled & served straight up).

Yum yum yum. Two, please!

We bought Lucy a pumpkin hat as an early birthday present (she turns five on Halloween). She was totally unappreciative of our generosity.

Oh, the rage in her eye.

(The pumpkin hat has been retired.)
