Smith Street Sunday

Kendrick and I had the most perfect Sunday EVER. Seriously…sun? I have missed you.

We started off with Miller High Lifes and hot dogs (sauerkraut relish mustard ketchup) at Gowanus Yacht Club. The beer list was a little sparse (only 2 beers on draft and a couple by the bottle), but the bartender assured us that they’ll be plumping it up as soon as the season begins in earnest.

At the Brooklyn Indie Market we found Jennifer, whose husband makes the most incredible, tiny masterpieces. Kudu-lah believes in affordable art, and the mixed-media prints pictured above, which feature a series of little critters (my favorite favorite is Gnaw, the one-eyed cutie on the left, who is “always distressed about everything” and reminds me of Lucy) are only $15 on Etsy (original prints are more, but still affordable). Also check out their “Vintage Gal” prints; they’re amazing.

Other great finds from the Brooklyn Indie Market: tiny, starfish-shaped rings ($28 for bronze; gold can be commissioned) from JooHyun Lee, and jewelry cut from delicate fabrics (love this one) from Paz Sintes.

We watched the sun set at Zombie Hut, where we drank PBRs and Blue Lagoons with orange plastic alligator stirrers, ate Goldfish, and played Scrabble (Kendrick won), Guess Who? (tie), and Sorry (VICTORY!).

On the way home, we picked up the ingredients for Chinese Chicken Salad (about $20, and makes tons of leftovers), and settled in for the evening.
