Lori Goldstein LOGO Event

Unexpectedly fun Monday night: I hit up an event for legendary stylist Lori Goldstein at her seriously enviable loft (she has a HAMMOCK on her deck – rrrr) with a small group of very fabulous women.

Lori (follow her on Twitter here) asked each of us to bring a vintage piece that we loved but never wore, with the goal of showing us how to create a fabulous new look (of course using items from her new line, LOGO, for – yes – QVC).

I brought a long floral skirt that I bought in Camden Market for $3 when I studied abroad in London during my junior year of college. I think it’s really pretty (it’s cooler than it looks in this photo), but I’ve only worn it…maybe three times ever? Upon discovering that my favorite things to wear are loose tops and tiny bottoms, Lori reached for the safety pins, looping the skirt up so it hit about two inches above my knees, and then paired it with a purple top from her own line. I rarely wear color, so this was a real departure for me…but I liked it.

My favorite wardrobe fixes, from left to right: Lori hacks up a never-worn jacket, instantly updating it with rolled 3/4 length sleeves; Lori gives TheGloss.com‘s Jennifer a whole new look with just a belt and some nude heels; Lori wisely does absolutely nothing to a fabulous dress, adding only an equally fabulous necklace for a pop of color.

Go here to read Style.com’s interview with Lori about her new line – in a nutshell, they were initially confused as to why someone who’s dressed everyone from Donatella (Versace) to Cate (Blanchett) would be working with QVC, but the line speaks for itself. Lori’s thing is accessible (and comfortable) fashion – a girl after my own heart – and she is the least snobby fashionista I’ve ever encountered. She ended the night by wrapping a pink scarf around her head, Keith Richards-style, and announcing that she would not be taking it off, because it was MAJOR. Love her much.

Go here to do some shoppin’. Lori will be live on QVC this Wednesday from 3-4PM.
