I love Black & Tans. They were my drink of choice during senior year in college, when I bartended at Redline Bar & Grill and hosted a weekly Senior Night, at the end of which I would collapse into a booth with my manager and a big pint glass of Guinness and Bass.
Anyway. I also like black and tan (and navy) clothing.
This is the outfit I chose for yesterday’s AOL Stylelist/Mercedes-Benz Fashion Force coverage (coming up!): a navy Madewell striped tee, TopShop silk blazer, Vintage Revolution skinny cargos* (available in Antique Khaki, pictured, and Olivine; $148 at National Jean Company in NYC and denim specialty stores nationwide), Tom Ford sunglasses, Nella Allen seahorse necklace, and Bakers boots. Comfortable enough to spend hours running all over town, but pulled-together enough to inspire photogs who weren’t contractually obligated to take my picture start clicking away while I milled around outside various shows.
Let’s talk seasonal makeup. For awhile there I was into a nude eye and bold lip, but for the past couple of months I’ve been all about the smolder. What I’m wearing here: Sally Hansen Natural Beauty The Metallic Eyeshadow Pallete, Sephora liquid liner, Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero, and a new find: Jane Iredale Mystikol in Citrine, a pencil with powdered bronze eyeshadow on one end, and highlighter on the other. I smudged the bronze shadow under my lower lid, and added the highlighter to the inner corners – that plus a tan is really all you need for summer makeup.
I also need to tell you about Fusion Beauty’s Tinted Moisturizer Plus SPF 15: I’ve been wearing the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Plus SPF for years…and now I think I’m switching. Fusion’s is even lighter and more luminous – it virtually disappears into the skin and feels like nothing at all, while leaving you with a stunning finish. Perrrrrfect for when it gets a bit warmer and you want to wear as little makeup as possible. It’s not available for purchase online yet, but I will let you know the moment it is.
This blazer? Seriously? Is insane. It’s casual, it’s fancy…it’s pizza in blazer form (always good). I particularly love it with the sleeves rolled up and a long-sleeved patterned blouse or tee peeking out from underneath. And bracelets. Always bracelets.
It’s in stores right now, but if you can’t make it to a TopShop this grey one, which you can buy online, has a similar feel.
Those earrings are the Kenneth Jay Lane drops from Thomas Laine that I wrote about awhile back, and that continue to make me extremely happy (see evidence, above). They seem to be sold out on Thomas Laine, but I believe you can still find them in lots of different colors (the red and green are gorgeous) on Rent The Runway.
