I mean…Aerosmith was great and all, but this?
This is my kind of show.
(If it sounds like I’m being facetious, let me assure you: not.)
I first became a Yo Gabba Gabba superfan when Indy was around five months old and I discovered that not only was he completely transfixed by the adventures of DJ Lance Rock and crew to the point where I could easily make it through a conference call, a sandwich, and/or a shower (and even a plane ride)…but that the music is actually…
And Anthony Bourdain is on it. And you know how I feel about him.
I know, I’m a huge dork, but seriously: I love it. There’s one song – about how people are different and you love them anyway – that actually makes me cry.
I think every parent has that show or two that they like/can handle and that show or two that drives them insane (for me, the insane-driving shows are The Backyardigans and Wonder Pets, no no no can’t), and I feel very lucky that Yo Gabba Gabba is on my Favorites List, because it comes complete with a live show featuring Biz Markie and Bloody Marys for the over-21 set, and some kind of magical Child Potion that puts the younger attendees into a state of catatonic bliss for the entire duration.
I mean, that is a hypnotized child. Indy is in the middle of a seriously bad bout of teething, so I was a little worried that the outing would be a bit of a disaster…but when I say that I’m not certain that he blinked once for the entire duration of the show, I mean it.
Now that is magic.
