This scarf, snagged at H&M (where else? I know, “Lady, switch it up a bit!”…but it’s right there when I get off the subway. And so cheap. And so very, very good) for ten bucks, is about to become the centerpiece of my fall wardrobe. I love it mixed with tons of different colors (everything from brights to neutrals), but right now I love it most paired with bright blue.
Blue and brown might not be the most innovative color combo in the world…but it works so beautifully at summer’s end, as we start playing with richer hues and patterns, cozy cover-ups, and, of course: leather. As in those Jeffrey Campbell shoes pictured below.

For the park or beach this weekend, pair it with dark brown (almost black) shorts, jelly sandals (so fun), and a multicolored stack of enamel bracelets. And then in a couple of months, switch out the shorts for something longer, and add luxe details like a silk scarf, a slouchy cardigan, a printed cuff…and those shoes.
